SURGICAL PROCEDURES
When your pet received surgery at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic of Luling, your pet is in good hands. We have state-of-the-art equipment, skilled veterinarians, and carefully monitor your pet from beginning to end.
Our veterinarians are skilled in advanced animal surgery. If routine veterinary surgery (including spaying, neutering, or dental surgery) is needed, we implement anesthetic protocols that are unique to your pet’s needs. Throughout your pet’s procedure, our staff will monitor heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels, carbon dioxide levels, and EKG with the highest quality of veterinary equipment.
Here at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic, we take pride in offering full-service surgical capabilities, including specialized services such as TPLOs (knee surgeries), surgical anal sac removal, fracture repair, and exploratory surgery.
PET SURGERY OVERVIEW
At Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic of Luling, we recognize that a pet’s surgery can be a stressful time for you and your pet. Here’s what you can expect with the surgery:
- The night before surgery, we’ll ask that you don’t feed your pet after 10 pm
- On surgery day, you’ll check your pet in for surgery at Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic between 7 and 8 am
- After check-in, your pet’s veterinarian will discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you have
- To ensure we have a full picture of your pet’s health, a pre-anesthetic blood test will be performed
- Your pet will be sedated and/or anesthetized, and then the procedure will begin
- We’ll update you throughout the day on your pet’s condition
- Once the procedure is complete, your pet will be sent home with care instructions and (if needed) pain medication
